Utah Jazz waive former MVP Derrick Rose

10 febrero 2018 20:29

Derrick Rose has been waived by the Utah Jazz just two days after joining in a trade from the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Rose and Jae Crowder, as well as the right to swap second round draft picks 2024, were sent to Utah by the Cavs in exchange for Rodney Hood as they overhauled their roster on trade deadline day.

While the Jazz were not expected to retain him, it marked the culmination of a humbling chain events for a point guard who won the NBA MVP award in 2011.

The 29-year-old has played just 16 games – seven from the start – this season, averaging 9.8 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 19.3 minutes per contest.

Injuries have ravaged Rose's once promising career, with knee and ankle issues proving particularly troublesome; in December he opted to return to the Cavs after taking a leave of absence in the wake of his latest setback.

It has been reported he could be picked up by the Washington Wizards with John Wall having undergone knee surgery in January.
